Become a student member

The Laboratory is committed to training students to become competent and independent in conducting rigorous, ethical, and meaningful research in the field of cognitive science. For this reason, the Lab gathers a semi-formal group of student members at different career stages, from BA students curious about the research conducted in the lab, to PhD mentees.

In line with our open-door policy, students of the Department of Psychology are welcome to take from the Lab what they need and to get involved as much as they want. It can mean anything from simply taking part in our weekly Journal Club discussions to getting advanced and personalised help with conducting their first studies. Each student is met where they are – no one is too young to start their first research project or to join ongoing studies. Moreover, since the Lab was founded, we are proud to have hosted a number of students from other labs who conducted their research or underwent training in our lab.

Award-winning approach

A special testament to the lab’s approach to student mentorship and training is the FENS-KAVLI Network of Excellence Mentoring Prize, awarded to Prof Vanja Ković, the key person behind the lab’s philosophy of working with students. The award came after more than twenty lab alumni and former formal and informal mentees of Prof Ković submitted their letters of recommendation in recognition of what Prof Ković, and the LNPK Lab, had contributed to their professional and personal development.

How to join?

Simply get in touch with our research staff with whom you want to work to enquire about the currently available opportunities. Students at the Department of Psychology will need to have passed the BA courses taught by their prospective mentor(s) before joining the lab.
